Warsaw’s public transport authority ZTM has deployed 100 new fully electric buses across the city’s busiest routes, marking the largest single expansion of the electric fleet in Poland’s history. The Solaris Urbino 18 Electric articulated buses will serve routes in high-traffic corridors including Marszałkowska, Puławska, and Grochowska.
Each bus can carry up to 130 passengers and features USB charging ports, real-time passenger information displays, air conditioning, and accessibility ramps. The vehicles produce zero direct emissions and are significantly quieter than their diesel predecessors.
“By 2030, we aim to have a fully electric bus fleet,” said Jan Kuźmiński, director of ZTM Warsaw. “These 100 buses bring us to 450 electric vehicles total, representing approximately 30% of our fleet.”
The expansion is part of Warsaw’s Clean Transport Strategy, funded through a combination of EU grants and municipal bonds. The city estimates the electric fleet will reduce CO2 emissions by 35,000 tonnes annually.
