National Theatre Announces Bold 2026 Season with International Directors

The Teatr Narodowy (National Theatre) has unveiled its most ambitious season in decades, featuring collaborations with internationally acclaimed directors. The 2026-2027 season will include 12 new productions, blending Polish classics with contemporary international works.

Highlights include a new staging of Wyspiański’s “The Wedding” directed by Katie Mitchell, known for her innovative work at the Royal Court Theatre in London, and a world premiere by Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk, adapted for the stage by German director Thomas Ostermeier.

“We want the National Theatre to be a meeting point between Polish tradition and global theatrical innovation,” said artistic director Krzysztof Warlikowski. “Warsaw’s audiences are sophisticated and hungry for bold new work.”

Season subscriptions start at 320 PLN for six performances. The theater has also introduced English surtitles for all Saturday evening performances, making the productions accessible to Warsaw’s international community.
