Warsaw Chopin Airport has surpassed a historic milestone, handling 22.3 million passengers in 2025 — a 15% increase over the previous year and a new all-time record. The airport now ranks among Europe’s top 25 busiest airports.
The growth was driven by an expansion of routes, with 14 new destinations added during the year including direct flights to Seoul, Cape Town, and Mexico City. Low-cost carriers Wizz Air and Ryanair expanded their Warsaw operations significantly, while LOT Polish Airlines added premium routes to Asian and North American cities.
To handle increasing demand, the airport has completed the first phase of Terminal 2 expansion, adding 8 new gates and a redesigned security checkpoint that reduces average wait times to under 10 minutes. A new automated baggage system has also improved connection reliability.
Looking ahead, the upcoming Central Communication Port (CPK) — Poland’s mega-airport project between Warsaw and Łódź — remains on track for a 2028 opening, which will eventually absorb much of Warsaw’s air traffic.
